How to Stop World Hunger

Let’s combine the practical with the spiritual.

Zero Hunger by 2030.

That’s the aim of the United Nations (U.N.) as it holds a number of events across the world on October 16, headlined by a Global Ceremony in Rome, to mark World Food Day.

According to the U.N., after a period of decline, world hunger is increasing again, with over 820 million people suffering chronic undernourishment.

Under the theme “Our Actions Are Our Future”, the U.N. is urging everyone to join forces and commit to an action to get back on track—whether it’s companies investing in economically marginalized communities, government implementing policies targeting rural areas or individuals limiting food waste.

The efforts of the U.N. are commendable, but poverty and hunger are two symptoms of a broken world and there cannot be a lasting solution if God is left out.

As Christians we are called upon to feed the poor—both spiritually and physically. James 2:15-16 underscores this:

15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

This is what the CHAYIL Glory Movement is about. Ordinary people like you and me rising up to stop Global Disaster through Global Revival. Global Revival is God’s Glory manifested in love, hope, mercy, goodness, power, healing, deliverance and salvation. Only through God’s glory can we truly transform lives and communities.

We are commanded by Jesus to first love the Lord our God with all our soul and all our mind, and secondly to love our neighbour as ourselves.

When you love someone like you do yourself, you want to do what’s best for them.

Love dictates that we do not ignore a person in need, whatever that is, be it food, clothes, money or healing. Love gives without expecting anything in return. Love requires us to share the Word of God so that all have the opportunity to know “Christ in us the hope of glory” and have eternal life.

Love, therefore, is as much spiritual as it is physical.

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

Let’s stop hunger in its tracks.
